Sabrina Schmidt (b. Montreal 2001) is an emerging artist interested in the aesthetic and psychological construction of a painting, importing artifice and inspiration from a catalogue of vivid dreams she keeps, invented imagery, and existing subjects. Her practice is often grounded in moments of tension or unease in the relationships between people, animals, objects, and nature. She draws particular inspiration from the conventions of vanitas, art history, and the Dutch Golden Age. Sabrina completed a BFA in Painting and Drawing at Concordia University (2025), has exhibited in Montreal with VAV Gallery, Gallery 1215, MAI/SON, and with Art Mur as part of their “Fresh Paint/New Construction 2024” Exhibition showcasing the work of emerging artists from across Canada.
